Faro in the South of Portugal is one of the sunniest places in Europe. It gets more than 300 hours of sunshine annually which is more than you would get if you were to visit California! It is even an ideal location in the winter when the milder temperature of around 15C can easily rise to 20C on warm days. If you do decide to go in the winter the water can be tepid at 14C and the evenings of course can be quite cold, so remember to take a jacket with you!
